Question:

Chinese gymnasts - will this happen?

Does anyone else think that this IGF investigation will lead to "no proof"?

I think they will find nothing to prove their ages aren't 16 and will let China keep its medals because they are the host country and it would make them & the IOC look bad.

Do you think they will find proof?

  1. a bunch of Chinese toddlers with baby teeth beat our Olympic gymnasts.  Oops...

It will be hard to find proof.  Especially, when a government controls the information. Newspaper stories or website info is not evidence and can be taken as opinion only.

If they do find proof, then China loses 4 gold medals and should get barred from gymnastics competition.

Hey man, if a website says that you owe me a million dollars, I'm coming over to your house to collect it.  ;-)

  2. likely nothing will be found

  3. I think they will try to look like they are investigating. It's a huge scandal after all. But they won't embarrass China. The worst you could do to a Chinese is make them lose their face. Even if it was because of cheating. IOC is already sweating just thinking about doing that.

  4. I don't think she is underaged. Just because she looks young doesn't mean she is biologically underaged.

    But what does it matter?

One point is already PROVEN, and that is she is one of the youngest and the best gymnasts in the world.

There should be no shame for the youngest competitor to beat all the other older competitors.  It's not like she was using drugs to cheat.  Oh and by the way, the Olympics is about the sport, not about how old an athletes should be.

  5. yup i think you're right b/c it already has been said that they have found nothing

  6. It's crazy to think they had enough evidence to re-open a closed case only to close it again later without finding anything. Usually when they go through the trouble to re-open a case for investigation  it is because there is some pretty damning evidence. I've seen enough to convince myself, and most others. Is it enough to make the FIG want to strip medals from the host nation though? I don't know....

  7. No.

  8. if the government is willing to participate in the cover-up there really is now way to find out for sure unless one of the girls comes clean.

we might as well just move on.

  9. China is good at covering their tracks. Remember Yang Yun from 2000? (She is also the fiance of Yang Wei) She had later confessed on Chinese television that she was only 14. It took her confession for the truth to come but of course that was after the Olympics..

  10. Didn't you hear, there's no proof. Case closed!

  11. They probably won't find anything.

  12. Since Jacques Rogge has spent years kissing the Chinese' butts, I don't expect anything to come of this.

  13. no, there will be no proof!

  14. The proof has already been found. the only question is whether anything will be done about it.

The official Chinese government documents which establish that He Kexin is underage have been removed from the website where they could previously be found but they forgot to remove them from the cache.
