The academy is located at Vienna, Austria. There are also other players from different countries getting training at the academy. The academy is basically owned by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and is used for such training events.
CEO Martin Soroös, an old and long time student of the Werner Schlager Academy, said, “This is another world for women's table tennis! You can see the wisdom of this. It puts special pressure on the men and an exceptional training opportunity for the women.
Very remarkable, very special.”
The Chinese are not only the best in the sport but also know how to handle the success they are currently enjoying on the international table tennis circuit. The coach divided the team in to two groups and assigned team leaders in order to have disciplined
training sessions.
The Chinese men's squad has Wang Hao, Zhang Jike, Ma Lin, Ma Long, Xu Xin, Wang Liqin and Chen Qi. The womens squad included LI Xiaoxia, GUO Yan, DING Ning, GUO Yue, LIU Shiwen and WU Yang.
The team leader for the women's squad is Guo Yan and for the men's squad, Wang Liqin. Both the players are the top seeds of the International Table Tennis federation current World ranking.
The players train over 12 tables, six for each group, over a period of two hours in each session. Their dedication shows how table tennis champions turn dreams into reality.
The first day of the training concluded with a challenging match between the Portuguese players João Monteiro and Zhang Jike from China.
The coach, Liu Guoliang, made the women's and men's teams to play against each other in order to enhance the playing skills of the players. They played a best of three matches. The women Chinese players really proved that they are no less than the Chinese men
players.
Today only one training session took place and the team spent the rest of the day sightseeing and shopping in Vienna.
