Any idea what the alcholic strength is of the stuff (generally) and how long a bottle would last once opened?

  1. If you're referring to sake (aka Nihonshu a Japanese rice beverage, not wine) then it's generally 15-18% ABV although it can be quite a bit more.

If you literally mean rice wine (origin doesn't matter) then much like the name suggests it's wine-like in strength so it could be anywhere from 12-18% regularly.

Both beverages aren't going to last long (stay fresh/good) once opened unless properly resealed.  They make things like vacuum sealers and such specifically for this.

  2. The strength is 18-25%. And it would last until you finished it most likely, so it could be years. It lasts as long as a bottle of sherry I suppose.
