Chinese shuttlers clinch four titles to stamp their supremacy in China Open Premier Super Series
Chinese shuttlers once again proved their supremacy in the arena of badminton as they have clinched four titles out of five in the 2011 China Open Premier Super Series, on Sunday, November 27, at the indoor arena in Shanghai, China.
China won the titles in the categories of Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Chinese shuttlers failed to make it a clean sweep as they lost all of their shuttlers before final contest in the category or Men’s Doubles.
This tournament was the last in all five Premier Super Series events under the flag of Badminton World Federation (BWF). In the final day of China Open, the Chinese shuttlers entered into court with a wonderful confidence and they ended the way by winning
their matches against all of their opponents.
In the category of Men’s Singles, it was the most celebrated shuttler, Lin Dan, who proved his domination in the game by beating his compatriot Chen Long in the deciding match. The ruling World and Olympic Champion Lin also ended the road of the World Number
One Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia in the semi-final of the tournament.
By winning the China Open, the World Number Two Lin has won two consecutive titles as he has also proved his supremacy in the last week’s 2011 Hong Kong Open Super Series. He has found his killing form back and is expected to defend his Men’s Singles title
in the 2012 London Olympics as he has defeated Chong Wei two times in the last two weeks.
In the category of Women’s Singles, the final was between the World Number One Wang Yihan and the World Number Three Wang Xin. Both Chinese shuttlers have been playing tremendous badminton in the current year. The huge home crowd was expecting a thrilling
fight but Xin had to leave playing because of an injury and Yihan was declared the winner of the Women’s Singles title in the tournament.
In the Women’s Doubles category, China’s Best pair of Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang (F) proved their mettle by playing on the highest level of the sport. They showed no mercy to their younger compatriots through the straight-set fight and emerged as the winners
of the Women’s Doubles title with a remarkable margin. They are in tremendous-form at the moment and are the powerful contenders for the 2012 London Olympics next year.
In the final contest of Mixed Doubles, China’s top seeds and World Number One, Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei made their mark over Denmark’s top seeds Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen. The World Number Three Danish couple failed to resist against
the power play of the Chinese in both sets of the final match.
The top seeds Chinese shuttlers put up phenomenal show of flawless and positive badminton and grabbed the title in a scintillating fashion. They are the heavy favourites to win the Mixed Doubles title in the mega event of Olympic Games in the upcoming year.
The Chinese shuttlers have attained the highest level of the game and are ruling the world with their impressive skills and temperament. By winning four titles in the China Open, they have proved that to make a clean sweep in the 2012 London Olympics will
not be out of question as they are ready to beat the world in the mega event next year.
