  1. I would stry fry some sliced garlic and onion then add a tablespoon of soy sauce mixed with oyster sauce, tiny bit of sugar and corn starch to thicken the sauce, then pour the sauce over the strips of steak.

  2. I remember in Taiwan they used A1 Steak Sauce in most of the small steak houses, but in bigger ones they had the American style with either the mushroom sauce (mmmm) or the pepper sauce.

  3. Ponzu sauce (sweet citrus soy sauce)  you can buy it at an asian market or make your own.  it's an awesome addition to meats and fish, not so much chicken though.

    1/4 cup soy sauce

    1/2 cup rice vinegar

2 tablespoons bonito shavings (dry fish flakes)

1 (1 inch) square konbu (kelp)

    1 orange, quartered

In a saucepan, combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, bonito shavings, konbu and the orange quarters. Let stand for 30 minutes.

Bring to a boil. Just as it starts to boil, remove from the heat. Allow to cool, then strain through a cheesecloth lined sieve.

  4. The easiest would be like a 'sweet & sour' sauce, but I would not recommend that because it is too strong and would overpower the natural favour of a good steak.

Personally, I like a mild "satay" style sauce.  Reduce 1/4 cup stock, 1/4 red wine. 1 tbs of soy and 2 tbs of satay paste.  Add 1 or 2 tbs of butter if you like a more creamy texture to the sauce.  Finally salt and pepper to taste.

    Enjoy.

  5. For beef, I like oyster sauce with a little toasted sesame oil.

Cook the beef with some garlic and green onions.  Drizzle with the oyster sauce - A little goes a long way so don't use more than 2 tablespoons, but I guess it depends upon how much steak you have.
