I just recently bought the book Tao of Jeet Kune Do by Bruce Lee, Before I started reading I quickly flicked through it to see what would be in the book and noticed that there was a lot of Chinese symbols that I don't understand. does anyone know where i can find the meanings for the symbols?

  1. Well there're four symbols that surround the y/y symbol are Jun Fan Gung Fu

  2. Chinese symbols are ideograms -- each represents a concept or idea. In certain combinations, they mean different things (and, sometimes, our english equivalent is so far removed, it's hard to understand how they can be related). A Chinese dictionary and a book on the introduction to the grammar will help you learn to recognize particles (which demarcate portions of a sentence) to help you isolate words to look up.

From what I've managed to gather, most of the symbols are, where of any importance, translated within the text of the book, which is organized in short quotations and "lesson plans" (workout plans?).

    Good luck.

  3. More than likely they are words.  Try this website for translation.
