Chinese team hammers Japanese shuttlers in group stages of Sudirman Cup 2011 – Badminton News
It was a bright and sunny day for the Chinese team as they hammered Japanese shuttlers in the group match of the Sudirman Cup 2011, at Qingdao China, on Tuesday, May 24. China won the battle without losing a single point against Japan with a one-sided margin
of 5-0.
In the first match of Men’s Doubles, the top Chinese pair of Cai Yun – Fu Heifeng tamed the Japanese duo, Shoji Sato – Naoki Kawamae in a straight-set fight, which lasted only 33 minutes.
In the first game, Chinese duo played a fast game by keeping the bird parallel to the net with strong pushes. They were keeping the shuttle c**k as low as possible to avoid high clears in the air. Their strategy worked well and they clinched the first set
by a good margin of 21-15.
In the second game, the Japanese pair played a better game in the start but the Chinese shuttlers controlled the game in the second half of the set and won it by a big difference of 21-14.
In the Women’s Singles category, Wang Xin of China showed no mercy to Sayaka Sato and clinched the match by beating her in straight sets. The Chinese controlled the game from the start and maintained a comfortable lead till the end of the set, she won the
first game by a margin of 21-12.
The second game became easier for the Chinese as the Japanese became nervous and lost the second game by a big margin of 21-11.
In the Men’s Singles match, the local hero, Lin Dan, had to work really hard to beat Sho Sasaki in a tight straight-set match. In the opening set, both men remained close to each other in the entire set and nobody could manage a clear lead. The score was
20-20, where the Chinese utilised his extensive experience and won the set by a close margin of 22-20.
The second set was also superb as both players kept the speed high by playing top standard badminton. The score reached 19-19, where Sasaki made crucial mistake which helped Lin to win the match by a tight difference of 21-19.
In the Women’s Doubles, China’s Yu Yang – Wang Xiaoli defeated Mami Naito – Shizuka Matsu in straight sets with a 21-15 and 21-10 margin.
Xu Chen – Ma Jin thrashed Hirokatsu Hashimoto – Fujii Mizuki in two sets by a margin of 21-14 and 21-10.
