"The use of a tonal language... meaning it takes both sides of the brain to speak & understand their language properly. The non-tonal language, spoken by most of the World out side of Africa, only uses the left side of the brain."

Was in a previous post, could this be why asians have a higher IQ standard? Simply because they have used a little bit more of thier brain than other nations ever since they developed a language?

  1. Your theory sounds interesting. However, my opinion is more to do with culture than language. Asian parents tell and bring up their kids telling them every day education is the most important part of their upbringing, telling them without education they will amount to nothing, and with education they will have a good career in life, and with it wealth.

Of course not all asian kids listen, and not all of them succeed, but 2 generations ago and earlier, they all came to this country as poor labor, but by working hard, they become the minority group that has the highest % of success. That's the geenration I was brought up, and now the next generation is spoiled again, so I don't know what will happen next.

  2. The mysterious brain is more complicated than the human body, and its less than a quarter of the size. In 5th grade my goal was to be a brain surgeon. The brain only uses 10 to 12 % of its capabilities, 12% being the genius and 10% the common intellectual. We wont speak of the rest of the population, just lack of common sense being taught to the young. However, the brain is very capable of much more and I think many of us use these, what are known as abilities. Your just a few, teach the young and we will learn more from our mistakes!

  3. We all use a change in tone to change the meaning.  Just because ours is implied and theirs is a change in vocabulary isn't enough to make me think there is any significant difference to how they are processed in the brain.

  4. It is all meaningless and we trully don't fully understand the workings of the brain yet.  Each time science learns something new it replaces what was previously known and the process is still evolving.

  5. It sure makes sense to me...

More effort, yields more mental results!

  6. No, I don't think so.  They do have a higher incidence of perfect pitch though.  Playing a musical instrument activates both sides of the brain as well.  Plenty of westerners play instruments form an early age.  I don't think there's necessarily a correlation between IQ and speaking a tonal language.
