Chinnarat Phadungsil aims to make a strong comeback at the CJ Invitational Hosted by KJ Choi
Chinnarat Phadungsil of Thailand hopes to return back to his winning form, when he tees off this week at the CJ Invitational Hosted by KJ Choi, slated to start from October 4 to 7, 2012.
The US$750,000 event will be played at the Haesley Nine Bridges Golf Club and is co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Korean Golf Tour.
In 2005, the Thai wrote his name in the history books by winning the Double A International Open as an amateur. However, it was not his victory that made him a star in the world of golf. In fact, it was his age that mattered the most.
He was just 17 years old when he recorded his debut victory and became the youngest player in the history of the Asian Tour to win a tournament.
Right after that, he decided to turn professional and won the Crown Plaza Open in 2006 by defeating Prom Meesawat, Lin Wen-Tang in the playoffs.
He then spent three years without a win and made a comeback by taking home the third trophy of his career at the 2009 Queen's Cup.
It has now been three years since he has tasted success on the tour. Therefore, he desperately wants to return back to his form in the KJ Choi’s hosted event.
According to him, he can make a strong comeback, especially when his track record in the current season speaks of his good performance compared to his last season.
This year, he has managed to record two top-10 finishes so far and is hoping to improve his record in the rest of the tournaments on the Tour.
“I’ve not been getting the results that I’ve wanted since the start of the season, having missed a couple of cuts. But I’m slowly getting back to my best and hopefully I can get a result this week,” said Chinnarat.
KJ Choi, in the meantime, is also getting ready to participate in his self-hosted event. He will now become the fourth player in the history of the sport to participate in an event that he is hosting himself.
The other three players, who play in self-hosted events include, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods.
Moreover, it will be the first time in the history that an Asian player will be hosting an event that is co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the Korean Golf Tour.
