Chipotle - Mcdonald?

Question

Have heard that Chipotle was spun-off from Mcdonald.

Chipotle is trading on the New York Stock Exchange using the independent symbol CMG...

But how come McDonald's would still retain a majority stake of Chipotle??

Maybe I did not get the idea of "spin-off".

McDonald's fully divested or did a complete spin off of CMG in 2006. MCD has no interest in CMG since then.
