Chipper Jones’ differences with wife go public as unnamed person confirms separation - MLB
As the third-baseman Chipper Jones re-enters the season after getting rid of a leg injury, news has emerged about his private life. Separation with Sharon, his wife for the last 12 years, has been reported by an unknown person. With differences becoming
known publicly, it does not augur well for Jones’ expedition in the season.
Jones is going through the last season of his career as a Major Leaguer. Making it worth remembering requires him to play throughout the season. However, due to an injury-prone body, he has been forced to miss out on a number of games.
At-first, surgery he underwent kept him out from initial few weeks of the season. Afterwards, on return, as soon as he made strides toward reaching top-notch form, another injury struck and put him on the disabled list again.
Fortunately, he has come back now and is playing for the Atlanta Braves. While it is an ideal time for Jones to launch an ultimate best on the plate, issues with family life can derail his quest.
It is not for the first time that Jones' family life has confronted the public spotlight. Back in 1998, he had brawl with his ex-wife Karin and ended up getting divorced, as he confessed before her that he had extramarital relations.
By that time, the incident was a big blow to Jones, mentally. Getting the private life exposed to vast spread-out fans of Jones had gone hard on him and had affected his focus considerably.
Therefore, as the latest story spreads out and more information unfolds, it will be at the expense of diverting Jones’ attention from the real job. For the same reason perhaps, when questions were asked from Jones about differences with Sharon, he denied
speaking anything about it.
Similarly, when effort was made to contact Sharon, nothing could be elicited. With no official acknowledgment from both sides about the issue, one will have to wait before knowing the heart of the story.
When Jones unveiled his intention to retire after the 2012 regular season, he cited family life as the greatest reason. He said he wanted to spend more time with the family.
Anything affecting Jones’ performance will not be a great sign for the Braves, as they need his contribution in the season immensely.
