Chipper Jones earns eighth All-Star game call as Tony La Russa announces result of Final Vote-MLB

National League Manager Tony La Russa put all the speculation to rest as he declares Atlanta Braves’ third-baseman Chipper Jones a player to feature in the All-Star Game. In contention with the Washington Nationals’ outfielder Bryce Harper, Jones was being
touted as a player who will easily fetch the maximum votes from fans.
Although the decision was to come on Thursday, a premature declaration has silenced commotions and ruckus being made of the outcome of the “Final Vote”.
As one can expect, fans are going by their sentiments more than an objective evaluation of the contenders.
While Jones has been prolific, his injury prone body can easily make one suspect that other players may have been better.
Harper was also vying for the spot, but Jones has been honoured in the last season and has been allowed to become an exhibition for the All-Star Game for one more time in his career.
Rookie Harper despite wishing to become an All-Star had stated earlier that Jones must be the winner of the Final Vote. So much so, he had said his vote will be for Jones.
Jones in replay had texted him and praised the way Harper had acted like a mature player. Jones had termed him a “classy” player and had stated that Harper has bright career ahead with many All-Star Games coming his way.
Meanwhile, Jones is preparing for July 10 extravaganzas. His family is equally excited to watch the match and give him an outstanding farewell. Although being an All-Star is not a new experience for Chipper, he is jubilant as if it is his first appearance.
“Same excitement every single time,” Jones said. “I’ve always cherished this experience, being able to go and rub elbows with the best players in the game, the elite of the elite and just get to know them. So many friendships have been forged at All-Star
games. Going out to dinner or sitting around the clubhouse shooting the breeze. And now my kids get to do it with me and meet all the best players in the game and create a lifelong memory for them, which is cool for me to do.”
The stage will be set in Kansas City on July 10. Moments will be epic for Jones. Those will be exactly what one can fancy in a dream ending for one’s career.
