Chipper Jones goes through at-bat under simulated conditions - MLB Update
Future Hall of Famer, Chipper Jones set his sights on April 13 home opener as he undergoes practice in an optional work out day on Friday. He faced throws from Atlanta Braves’ fifth starter Randall Delgado.
Currently on the disabled list, he aims to appear in the regular season at the earliest.
Arthroscopic knee surgery he recently underwent had languished his quest to enter the club early and therefore he had to go back and rest before returning to the squad.
After an announcement of retirement after this season, he is eager to be part of the Braves in every game has enlivened.
Exhaustive list of laurels he achieved in his career has not left much for him to attain anymore. Just to minimise nostalgia he will experience after he departs from Atlanta, he will be looking to bask every single moment left of him at the club.
Given the fact that the Braves chances this season are at the lowest, his entry will at-least a tickle for the fans to an extent of bringing them to the stadium.
As demoralised as the fans are with the clubs prospects, attendance without him is going to be at a minimum.
As Jones experienced at-bats, he commented that he will most probably miss out on Thursday citing his knee, which is still in the process of recovering properly. April 13 remains for him the most realistic expectation.
Manager Fredi Gonzalez wanted to send him to the Minor League for more at-bats, but Jones denied going there in the belief that he is to face quality pitches. That will be possible only when he confronts hurlers that belong to the Major League.
For a player like Jones, the manager says he will not become a hurdle in his way. Whenever he is fit and reports his presence, he will give him a go right away.
In the contention of becoming the all-time best third baseman, Jones will be a real treat to watch for the fans and the sooner he returns to Atlanta, the better it will be for the club. Not just in terms of strengthening the offence, but also in terms of
experiencing more sell out stadiums.
How he makes his last season memorable will be interesting to see. After all he is a big player and has to re-enforce his credentials every time he is present in the game.
