Chipper Jones goes through surgery following a left leg contusion - MLB Update
On Saturday, the Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones had surgery, which was aimed at draining the fluid from his leg. He has been missing the Braves’ line-up for the last couple of weeks.
By the time his contusion grew severe, he was put on 15-day disabled list by the Braves.
As surgery has been performed on his leg, it is believed that he will be rehabilitating faster. His ankle will hopefully not trouble him while making plays.
According to initial reports, without surgery, issue will have lingered on and will have caused bigger damage to him.
Therefore, timely treatment will render Jones become permanent in the Braves’ line-up for remaining part of the season.
Ever since he has come off disabled list early in the season, he has been irregular. He has missed number of games owing to the prevalence of pain in his left leg. This was discouraging for the manager Fredi Gonzalez and for the club at-large.
As great a player as he is, team want him to show presence in every game and lead them to victories. Of all the games Jones has appeared, the Braves’ performance has been terrific, while his absence has more often than not resulted in a poor show from their
offence.
Therefore, the Braves have every reason to be cheerful as Jones undergoes surgery successfully and makes huge strides towards a comeback in the season.
Jones is hopeful that the Braves will be able to turn things around soon. As their progress declines in the season, Jones believes, once injured players come back and every-one in the line-up starts performing to their potential, things will be back on track.
“This team will make its adjustments,” Jones said. “We are going through a rough time right now. We have guys who are sick, not able to play. We got guys hurt, gimpy. We got people who can’t see. Maybe we will get everybody healthy, not sick and able to
see again all at the same time and we’ll go back on a pretty good roll.”
If the Braves are going to reach up to something bigger this year, Jones will be showing up on plate in every game. Since it is his last season, he will love to propel the Braves to an enviable position in the season.
