my keet's egg is due to hatch today (18 days already). I started hearing chrirping in the egg last nite. I am 100% sure its from the egg, I put by ear against it. How long from now will I have to wait for it to hatch?

  1. It wont be long,You should have a baby by tommorow.Once they start chirping they will start to chip away at the egg. This can take as long as 24 hours.So...Early Congrats !!!

  2. Baby parakeets need warmth and yes the Momma will sit on the egg even while it is hatching though she may act somewhat "goosey" by moving around alot during the hatching process.

If parakeets are anything like ducks/chickens you shouldn't be handling the egg in the final days of hatching. . . the chick is positioning itself for the hatching process and you could get the egg upside down and this could imped the hatching process and you could lose your chick.

    Good Luck

  3. it should within the next 8 hours.  if not give it 24 hours if it didint hatch yet keep a very close eye on it.    and IF POSSIBLE help it along.  DO NOT crack the egg for it though.    it needs to do that itself to build up strengh.   you can however wiggle your finger around if it is starting to hatch.  it will encourage the baby to come out because he will think its the mother waiting for it to hatch.   good luck!!    also if anyone has any questions feel free to email onlinepetquestions@yahoo.com or visit our website and check out our official myspace linkwww.animalrights2121.tripod.com!

  4. You can always hear them before they hatch sometimes good luck!
