Chivas versus Real Madrid – Preseason friendly: First half review
Real Madrid took on Chivas who are also known as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390. The Spanish giants fielded a strong looking starting line up as Jose Mourinho went with Adan in goal
instead of the Real Madrid captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Coentrao was given his first start by Jose as he was deployed on the left wing
for Los Blancos.
Coentrao lined up alongside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ivan-c17215 Baez and Arellano as
their front men. These two were supplied by the likes of Guzman, Mejia and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Medina-c25103 from the midfield region as Chivas lined up to hit Real Madrid on the counter attack.
The match started off strongly for Real Madrid who were awarded the first free kick of the match in the 5th minute. It was Coentrao who won the free kick but it was Cristiano Ronaldo who took up the set piece taking
responsibilities. Ronaldo stepped up to take the free kick but his eventual effort was directed straight at Chivas’ goalkeeper as the score line remained at nil all.
In the 11th minute of the match, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 in the Chivas goal from a tight angle. The Frenchman’s shot was well struck as it had a lot of power in it but Michel did
well to tip the ball away. In the 27th minute, Real Madrid were on the front foot once again. This time http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 surged down the right wing and crossed the ball towards Benzema. However the cross took a wicked deflection and ended up in Ozil’s feet
whose first time shot missed the Chivas goal by a few inches.
In the 34th minute, Chivas came close to opening the scoring in San Diego as Baez found himself in space just outside the Real Madrid penalty area after he gained control of a long ball from the midfield area. Regardless
the Mexican striker failed to hit the target with his effort as the ball sailed wide of the mark in the end.
In the 37th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Edgar-c11882 Mejia went into the referee’s book after he took out Cristiano Ronaldo near the right touch line for the home side. It was a blatant foul which was spotted by the referee and duly punished with
a booking as well. The first half eventually came to a close shortly after with the score line at nil all. Real Madrid were subdued for most part of the first half but they did a larger share of the possession.
