Chivas versus Real Madrid – Preseason friendly: Second half review
The second half started with a host of changes for Real Madrid as Chivas retained their starting line up from the first half. Jose Mourinho sent on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iker-Casillas-c16815 along with several other stars in order to test his team’s fitness
levels. Casillas was given his first anxious moment of the match in the 50th minute when Pina’s free kick almost found it’s way past the Spanish goalkeeper. The Chivas midfielder curled a brilliant free kick over the Real Madrid wall but the ball
struck the woodwork and went out of play for a goal kick.
Chivas made their first change of the night in the 55th minute when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 went into the referee’s book
after he petulantly reacted to tight marking inside the Chivas penalty area. Even though his team mate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670 had headed the ball into the back of the Chivas net via a free kick, the referee disallowed the goal as Ronaldo had pushed his marker to the ground
in the build up to the disallowed goal.
Ronaldo was shown a yellow card for all his troubles as well but the Portuguese winger reacted in trademark style by mocking the referee for his lack of judgement. In the 57th minute, Callejon broke through the Chivas
back line but the young forward was unable to provide a clean finish in the end as his weak shot was easily gathered in by the Chivas’ goalkeeper.
In the 64th minute, Real Madrid turned on the style as Mesut Ozil provided yet another defence splitting pass to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350. The Frenchman almost provided an immaculate finish but his shot was blocked superbly by
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 finally opened the scoring for Real Madrid. The Portuguese winger slid in to tap in the cross which was laid on a plate by Karim Benzema for the former
Manchester United man.
In the 76th minute, Chivas’ good work was laid to waste by a wayward challenge on Pepe inside their penalty area. The referee saw the incident and awarded Real Madrid a spot kick. It was Ronaldo who stepped up to take
the penalty kick and he made no mistake with his shot as he hit it low and hard to beat Michel. Soon after the Portuguese winger completed his hatrick as in the 82nd minute as Ozil cut the ball backwards for Ronaldo to pounce on. The former Sporting
Lisbon youngster provided a fine finish as the match came to a close with the score line at 3-0 in favour of Real Madrid.
