Chloe Hosking hopeful to win Elite Women road race event at World Championships 2011
The professional Australian cyclist Chloe Hosking is positive about the 140 kilometre road race at Rudersdal during the World Championships 2011 at Copenhagen. She will represent Australia in the Elite Women road race event and is hopeful to send some good
news to the Australian fans back home by winning the medal.
The 20-year-old turned professional in 2010 and has represented her country at many events as she has won the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games 2010. She secured the 52nd position at the UCI Women’s Ranking of 2010 and was the youngest of
all the riders ranked above her.
It has been a while since Australia has won a medal in the Women’s category as it all goes back to 2005 when Oenone Wood won the bronze medal. Hosking is hopeful to win a medal for the team as she said, “World championships are so unpredictable that you
never really know what’s going to happen; they’re just a whole different ball game, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a select group of favourites, like Vos, Teutenberg, and Emma Johansson and hopefully myself approach the finish together.”
She further added that she will be in a better position to judge the track at the event only after reaching the competition. Team Australia has reached very close to victory on many occasions but no one has really been able to finish the race for them. Chloe
believes that her team selectors have worked hard and she seems impressed by their performance as the cyclists have been chosen for their good performances.
She further added that if team Australia sticks to a plan there is no reason that could stop them from claiming the win at the event. Hosking is having a wonderful season as she has already claimed four wins this year followed by a fourth overall finish
at the Holland Ladies Tour as she dominated amongst the top players in the sport. It will be interesting to see if Australia can secure a medal at the Elite Women’s event and all eyes are on Chloe who is very much capable of winning the medal in any format
of the sport.
