Women’s Singles shuttler Chloe Magee could not continue her unbeatable run in the final round of Irish International and lost the title match to Line Kjaersfeldt on December 9, 2012.
This game of throne was staged at local badminton arena of Dublin, Ireland where a decent number of spectators gathered to support the native shuttler.
However, Chloe Magee failed to live up to the expectations and surrendered after 52 minutes with 21-23, 21-18 and 18-21 margin.
The Irish campaigner found herself in deep trouble straight away in the first set as Line Kjaersfeldt showed elevated craft and confounded her.
Chloe took off in perfect manner and established a decent lead by prevailing in few uninterrupted rallies. She was enjoying a commanding position when the opposing shuttler bagged few valuable points in a row and narrowed the gap on points table.
The Danish player, who was placed at sixth spot in the tournament ranking, made a swift progress and levelled the score just before the interval.
Line Kjaersfeldt showed consistency in her performance and ruled the court in next couple of rallies. She added many consecutive points in the total and strengthened her grip in third quarter of the set.
At this stage, Chloe stormed back with a strong reply and tipped the scale in her favour but her supremacy was short lived as she lost focus in the final stage and faced a 21-23 defeat.
World Number 56 Irish shuttler did not show any sign of confusion after first set loss and brought the contest to right balance in very next game.
This time Chloe played with positive approach and gained an early advantage. She relished full benefits of this initial lead and piled up a mountainous figure of 11.
After the mid-game break, she geared up herself and left Line Kjaersfeldt far behind with an overwhelming score of 21-18.
With this development, the decider became consequential and both contenders put all they had to claim this final match point.
They remained equal until third quarter of the set and this cliff-hanging tussle ended when Chloe Magee surrendered after reading 18-21 margin on the board.
