Chloe Sutton wins Women’s 1500m freestyle title - Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions 2011
The fourth and final day of the Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions started in stunning fashion, with the convincing performance of US swimmer, Chloe Sutton, in the Women’s 1500m freestyle relay final at Mission Viejo in California, on June 26,
2011.
Sutton beat FAST’s swimmer, Kate Ziegler, in the corresponding meet with a winning time of 16 minutes and 12.73 seconds. More importantly, Sutton broke her previous record of 16 minutes and 16.11 seconds in the respective meet and jumped to the sixth spot
in the international swimming rankings of the current year.
Kate Ziegler of FAST captured the silver medal in the Women’s 1500m freestyle relay final, with a time of 16 minutes and 17.21 seconds. Her team-mate, Emily Brunemann, grabbed bronze in time of 16 minutes and 22.09 seconds.
Chloe Sutton won the golden crown in the Women’s 10km open water swim in the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro. She took home the gold title in the corresponding race at the 2006 Pan Pacific Championships in Victoria. She also snatched the Women’s
400m freestyle crown in the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine.
At the moment, she is performing her duties as an open water swimmer for Mission Viejo in California. Her individual desire like other swimmers is to represent her country at the London 2012 Olympic Games and win her first ever Olympic gold title.
In another exciting race, David Plummer of Minnetonka took home the Men’s 100m back-stroke crown with a victorious time of 54.19 seconds. Amazingly, Plummer beat Peter Marshall’s previous record of 55.09 seconds, set back in 2008. He also broke his own previous
record of 54.04 seconds in the corresponding meet.
FAST’s swimmer, Tyler Clary, won the silver title in the Men’s 100m back-stroke final with a winning time of 55.57 seconds, whereas, Kurt Bassett of New Zealand rounded out the top three with a time of 56.16 seconds.
