Chlorine Tablets VS. Household Bleach....?

I was wondering if it is possible to use unscented bleach in a swimmimg pool rather than chlorine tablets? I heard that u could from another pool owner, but I wanted to hear some pros and cons. I know that bleach is way cheaper, but is it safe and effective? Thanks

You can, but shouldn't. Pucks have a lower inherent pH than liquid chlorine and so have a lesser impact on you're water's Ph rising. That means you use less acid to knock it down, which costs less money. Pucks are also stabilized against ultra violet loss, which liquid chlorine isn't. You need to use more liquid to get the same sanitizing effect that pucks provide.
