Cho Ei and Mike Luong raise Men’s Doubles trophy in LABC Summer Bash Tournament 2012
Men’s Doubles team Cho Ei and Mike Luong of USA toppled their compatriots Channing Chan and Addison Cheng to claim Men’s Doubles crown in LABC Summer Bash Tournament on June 24, 2012.
Though, they wrapped the show in just two games but still they had to sweat hard to read final result of 21-19 and 21-19.
The impressive Cho and Mike showed strong character in this nerve-racking tussle and locked the honour in a commendable manner.
Meanwhile, the opposing team also displayed impressive fighting spirit and walked tall despite of facing a woeful defeat.
Cho and Mike, who have been showing their impressive skills in this tournament, stamped their supremacy over their team-mates. They played with an authoritative approach and outclassed their opponents technically and tactically.
The opening game set the overall tempo of the match as both teams employed all their brilliance to gain an early advantage.
In first half of the set, they remained competitive until 7-7 but then Cho and Mike made difference with four consecutive points and placed a decent total of 11-7 before interval.
Second half of the set was filled with lot of sensation as at one stage the Cho and Mike in strong position to sweep the table but then their competitors put good fight and stopped this segment from being a dead contest.
The twosome of Channing and Addison, who were also aggressive in the court, registered their presence by reaching at respectable position of 19 in final moments but they could not avoid 21-19 defeat.
However, the best part of the show was yet to come as both contenders snapped each other’s heels to oust their opponent in the following game.
Second set, which proved a decider later, started with both teams playing fast badminton and making swift progress on the scoreboard.
None of them could establish a comfortable lead until mid game break and remained close with a tight margin of 11-10.
The match kept swinging between both teams all the way to game point situation but finally Cho and Mike sealed a straight-set victory by grabbing ending points in concluding figure of 21-19.
