Question:

Chocolate Chip Cookies with HOT CHILI POWDER?

I live in Germany. The local supermarket is selling Mexican foods this week, amongst them, "Choc. Chip Cookies with Hot Chili Powder". I´ve heard of them before, but wondered if this is just a joke, or a trick to get people to buy things that seem exotic. (I just tried one - the originals taste better).

Please excuse my ignorance.....

  1. Never heard of this one. It would be a bad joke if you didn;t know.

  2. I am Mexican and have never tried these cookies you talk of (what is the brand?).

Actually, chile and chocolate are only mixed together in mole, a spicy sauce you use on pork, chicken or rice, not as candy.

Though is true that our traditional candies include things with chilly, spicy enough to make children cry... they love it!, none involve chocolate and cookies.

I think it is a trick to get people to buy the exotic.

  3. That must be a joke, or a trick to attract customers.

We mexicans like our cookies sweet and yes, we do have hot chili snacks, but that is a plain joke.

  4. i don't see that that odd, we have chilli pops, chilly popscicles, etc, so maybe, why not?

  5. Bad joke, we (mexicans) do like chili in almost anything but... c'mon! seems interesting though hehe

We like crackers with "salsa bufalo" yum!
