  1. Very nice! You could choose from milk chocolate, dark or white. You'll want to get a table designated for food in this case-- place it right in the center of the table and set up trays of food to dip (think pound cake, strawberries, sponge cake, kiwi, graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate pieces, bananas, etc.). Good luck!

  2. I think it's a really nice touch and a way to add something extra to your wedding.  I've seen this at a few weddings and it's been a big hit.

  3. i do not like them as they splash and are too messy and can ruin the bride's dress and the guests clothes as well

  4. I Love This Idea. Another Thing I've Thought About For My Own Wedding.

I'm Planning On Having A Cocktail & Finger Food Type Buffet.

I Think Having It On A Buffet Table Would Be The Best Idea.

Having Marshmallows, Strawberries & Things Like That Around The Fountain That Way People Can Help Themselves.

  5. No. It is getting tired. Also, it can be messy. It'll be one of those things that people will see in their wedding album 50 years from now and say, "Oh, the chocolate fountain. Remember when everyone had one of those?" hehe

  6. All i can think is that it's a cool idea. but a bad idea when mixed with a white dress. very messy

  7. It's very popular right now to have a chocolate fountain.  Be aware, however, that if your reception venue doesn't already own one, it can cost as much as $1200 to rent one and get all the stuff that goes with it (chocolate, skewers, food for dipping).

I looked into this because a friend had one at her wedding and my fiance thought it was really cool.  Our reception venue doesn't own one, and I'm not paying that much for melted chocolate.  Just as elegant (and less messy and expensive) would be to have chocolate ganache for dipping, or just have pre-dipped strawberries as part of your dessert course.

If you do decide to get one, as far as placing goes, usually there is a table set up for the fountain and all the accouterments.  If you're having a dessert table, that's the place for it.  I wouldn't have it next to the place where you're having the cake, nor would I have it close to the gift table.

  8. TACKY-in all senses of that word-is this a wedding or a teen sleepover?

  9. It's nice for a smaller wedding.  They don't work well at large events because people tend to "crowd" them.  I was at a conference with one, and it didn't work for the 100+ people.  But my sister had one at her "midnight" buffet this past weekend and it worked well.  It was a hit!  But there were only 40 people at her wedding, so it worked better with the smaller flow of people.

  10. If you do have one, you can actually buy them for much, much less than they rent - Wal-Mart has them for like $30!

I personally don't like them - they just seem like a little much to me.

  11. I had one at my wedding and it was VERY popular with everyone...especially the kids.  We had strawberries, pretzels, mini rice crispie bars, marshmallows to dip in it.  I didn't have any but everyone who did loved it!

HOWEVER...one of my cousins gave me a hug and had a little bit of chocolate on his face so I got some on my dress.  My mom had a Tide stick with her and that got most of the chocolate out.  There's still a small stain, but once I get my dress dry cleaned, I think it'll be good as new.

  12. Chocolate fountains are beautiful and super fun and exciting to use (especially for those like me who had never seen one before), but beware. At my cousins wedding, the wind blew and the chocolate that was running through the fountain blew all over the buffet table snd chocolate got on all the food.

If you have one, have it on its own table, inside or sheltered from the elements, and away from the other non-dessert foods (and your cake of course) and be sure you are ready for the extra cost of having one. Otherwise, I think they are beautiful!

  13. OMG  NO!!!  if you need further research, bring one to a family BBQ and see how much of mess your brother's kids make!!!

  14. my uncle had one at is reception. it was jst placed on a table near the food with different fruits surrounding it

  15. Well I have been to one wedding with a fountain.. It was not used much.. very messy! It looked pretty though..

  16. They look good and can be fun but they are best for a small wedding. For medium-large weddings they get too messy and crowded with everyone trying to get in to the fountain.

Set it up on a table with plenty of space around it so guests are able to access it easily. If you have a dessert table, you could put it down one end of this. If not, you could just use an extra side table.
