our wedding is in april and we are thinking of having desserts only to eat.

family members could do their famouse desserts and we have their name in front of it (example: grandma famous poundcake; aunties secret dump cake...).most of the family already said they would like to help/ be involved in the wedding.and of course nobody HAS to bake anything, its only if they want to.

and we will add 2 or 3 chokolate fountains with a bunch of different things to dip in.

we are prob. going to have about 50-60 guest -family only!- at the wedding. so we don't need 50 servings of everything.

location: savannah,GA

my questions are:

do you think this is going to be expensive? how much$?

do you think this would be nice?

and what all could people dip in the fountain?

  1. $ i don't know...

but i do think it'd be nice... as long as people know that it's desserts only before they get there!

to dip... pretzels!  marshmellows, pound cake, cookies, various fruits, crackers.... anything really!

    yummy :)

  2. i think an all dessert menu is cute.. but think about kids that are going to be there.. at least let people that are attending know that sweets are going to be the only food.. a cute idea i did at my wedding was my aunt made and Oreo pudding dish and i served it in plastic martini glasses.. it was very cute.. i would say that you also wouldn't need 3 fondue fountains for that many guests.. and some good ideas are apple bananas strawberries.. they are a must pretzel sticks and marshmallows .. i think that if each member of your family did a dish it would be cheap for them rather than if you did it all yourself it would be much more exspensive.. i would suggest having fruit trays and marshmallow dip and something cool could be like and icecream bar.. like icecream and then all the toppings on a table..

  3. What a great idea, especially since its family!

I highly doubt it will be expensive, chocolate fountains aren't that bad at all, and the stuff to dip isn't either.

I think it would be adorable and really neat and family centered.

    To dip in the fountain:

    Fruit:

    -strawberries

    -pineapple

    -banana

    Baked Goods:

    -shortbread

    -angel food cake

    -small pretzels

    -small cookies

    -marshmallows

    sounds fun!

    congrats on your future wedding!

  4. All that dessert will make everyone sick from all that sugar.  I think you should have a simple finger-food buffet, along with any desert anyone wants to bring.  You can have white and dark chocolate and caramel.  Lots of pieces of fruit, like apples and strawberries and kiwi and melon balls.  And simple finger food, with cheese, crackers, those small pieces of bread and different cuts of cold cuts, some veggies and veggie dip, radishes, olives.  It will be healthier and colorful.

  5. MMMMM...sounds good!

I think thats a great idea!  I'm sure people will be looking forward to grandma's famous poind cake.  I'm sure the homemade desserts will be better than buying them from somewhere.

For the fondue you should get fruit...strawberries, bananas, cherries.  You could even get marshmallows(kids will love that), oreos.  You could even dip some of the other desserts in the fondue, like poundcake, brownies chocolate chip cookies.

Have fun with it! There's so much you can do, and it will be fun too!

  6. I think this is a cute idea!  This is your wedding and you get to choose what to do.  I also think that it will be very inexpensive.  If your family members are making the desserts, you are off the hook there (unless you want to chip in for ingredients).  And for the chocolate fountains, I'm sure you could rent them.  Or another option is to buy one or two if you will use it again.  I just looked at the Target website and found three different chocolate fountains, ranging in price from $40 to $100.  If you want two or three fountains at your wedding, maybe a family member or friend would be interested in buying one off you after the wedding, or you could sell it on ebay or something.
