Choi Seung Il, Kim Sung Hoon ensure their presence in main round of 2012 Korea GP Gold
Men’s Doubles team Choi Seung Il-Kim Sung Hoon cleared their first hurdle in the Korea Grand Prix Gold and secured a main round berth after beating Kim Hyun Soo-Song Yoo Jin in the qualifying round on December 4, 2012.
This 30-minute encounter took place in Lee Yong Dae stadium as both native teams entertained the crowd while piling up decisive figures of 21-16 and 21-12.
Both Korean pairs challenged each other in all areas of the game and local audience applauded their honest effort.
The twosome of Seung Il and Sung Hoon remained dominant in most part of the game as both partners forged a fruitful chemistry to lock the honour.
Though, Hyun Soo and Yoo Jin had to face an early exit from the home event but still they earned great deal of respect for their fighting spirit.
In the opening game, they took a decent start and did not allow their rivals to establish a notable lead.
They bagged some valuable points in a row and managed to stay close on the points table until the mid-game break.
At this stage a few unforced errors triggered the collapse and Hyun Soo-Yoo Jin could not rise from the dust until game point situation.
Seung Il and Sung Hoon made best out of their competitors’ blunders and established a significant lead with some successive points.
They kept on moving forward with similar pace and left the opposing team far behind with 21-16 margin.
The inexperienced but talented Korean duo showed consistency in its performance and dominated overall pace of the rallies in the second set as well.
This time Seung Il and Sung Hoon changed their strategy and played with an authoritative approach from the very first stroke.
They cornered their challengers with a few back-to-back powerful rallies and gained an early advantage without any trouble.
This initial advantage helped them to widen the gap before the interval and they placed a mountainous total of 11.
Latter part of the game also belonged to Seung Il-Sung Hoon as they did not make even a single mistake and registered a winning margin of 21-12.
This splendid straight-set win took them in the main round where they will be up against another compatriot duo Cho Gun Woo-Kim Dae Eun.
