Chong Wei Feng powers his way into Men’s Singles second round of the 2011 Yonex Chinese Taipei Open
Malaysia’s national shuttler, Chong Wei Feng powered his way into second round after defeating Chinese Taipei’s Hsieh Feng Tse in the Men’s Singles first round of the 2011 Yonex Chinese Taipei Open, in Chinese Taipei, on Wednesday, September 7.
Wei Feng is one of the most talented shuttlers in the back-up squad of Malaysia, who is determined to become a true successor to Lee Chong Wei, who is currently World Number One in category of Men’s Singles. Wei Feng has achieved a certain level of skill
in his game and he is ready to prove his class in international events.
In the opening round of Taipei Open, the Malaysian made his mark over the local player after working really hard, as his opponent was also having the support of home crowd. Both players remained neck-to-neck in the opening points and progressed in the same
way until the score reached 15-15.
The Malaysian changed his technique and started to push the bird away from the net tape. His strategy worked well as his rival failed to execute spinning net strokes. Wei Feng bagged the first set in 15 minutes, with the score of 21-18.
The following set of this Men’s Singles first round contest was more thrilling, as both shuttlers kept the pace of the game at maximum level. They did not let each other take a reasonable lead until the match entered into the crucial stage at the second-half
of the set.
Wei Feng was trying to dominate the game with powerful smashes, while his opponent was playing with great precision. The positive game from both players pushed the score at the most critical stage of 20-20. Both shuttlers tried their best to smash the bird
on side lines of the court in the ending moments of second set.
However, Wei Feng played inspiring badminton at the concluding points and remained successful in winning the match by scoring two consecutive points with the narrow difference of 22-20, in 17 minutes. This tight battle ended in 32 minutes with the result
of 21-18 and 22-20.
