Chong Wei confirms his presence in team motivation camp – Badminton News
The badminton maestro of Malaysia, Lee Chong Wei is always there to support his team-mates as now he has confirmed is presence in the team motivation camp before the Thomas Cup Finals to be staged in China from May 20, 2012.
Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) organised a team building camp in February also but players could not pocket the benefits as they were busy in Thomas Cup qualifiers preparation.
Now when the team morale was down after the Axiata Cup failure, the World Number one shuttler Chong Wei decided to boost their confidence and requested BAM to organise a team motivation camp again.
Chong Wei said, “This time, I will be joining the team motivation camp. I have spoken to the BAM officials about it and we agree it is important to have one for the Finals.”
The coaching and training committee will decide the venue for this training camp in their next meeting on April 27-28.
BAM has announced the national squad for this prestigious team event and the Doubles event will see Lim Khim Wah-Goh V. Shem and Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong representing the country while Chong Wei will lead the Men’s Singles shuttlers Daren Liew and Hafiz
Hashim.
The badminton ace Chong Wei gave his vote of confidence to the World Number 28 Daren Liew, who is also national number two now, but he also advised young Daren to bring consistency in his performance.
He said, “Daren has improved but needs to be more consistent. He’s now ranked second ahead of Hafiz. This is good for the team.”
Chong Wei has been resting his arms due to shoulder injury which forced him to withdraw against Lin Dan in All-England final and later he also did not grace the Axiata Cup with his presence but now maestro has decided to swing his arms in the training sessions.
Chong Wei said, “I will resume full training tomorrow. I’m not feeling any pain but there is a worry that I may aggravate the injury. I need to overcome that fear.”
The world’s best shuttler will be looking to get back on track in India Open and Malaysia Open before he stretches himself in Thomas Cup finals in May.
However, the London event will be his biggest target as it can be his last appearance in the Olympics so Chong Wei will be looking to make best out of this mega event.
