Question:

Choose Georgetown or Rensselaer?

Help! I have been accepted for a PhD in molecular biology at both Georgetown university and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The thing is, my girlfriend and the mother of my child studies international politics and economic development, so she would like to get a job in either Washington DC or New York City. While Rensselaer has the better program for me and New York City has more job opportunities for my girlfriend, RPI is in Troy, which is about two and a half hours away from NYC by car. Which means we probably have to find someplace in the middle, meaning we both would have a nasty commute, particularly during rush hour, plus caring for our child. Should we just go to Georgetown then or should we slug it out in New York?

Please tell me your opinion! I have to decide today or I lose the offers...

  1. RPI is a great place for school...I live down the road from it and i could see u gettin fed up and goin hre and moving around here...this is not the area for a child...and noone wants to commute...esp w/the parking and all the vandalism in troy..even students get their cars all screwed up dont know how it'd be if u went to georgetown but troy is an icky place dunno if ur from aruond here or have been her but run away. its a great school in a bad location. i'd say georgetown
