this is my male delta tail betta. i rescued him from a petco. i saw his coloring (which was greyish with a greenish tint and brown fins, and had tail rot at the time. as you can see, he has made full recovery... no tail rot at all and stunning colors! my only issue with him is that he gained the habit of eating his tail while living in a cup and had tail rot in the store, and still eats his tail, no matter how healthy he is.

i want to breed him, and am searching for a female. what color/ type of betta would produce good fry?

i have done research about this subject, and i can tell that my male will be more than willing to be a dad! constantly blowing bubblenests. i know this doesnt nessarily mean i need to breed him, but i want to, i cant let his coloring go to waste!!

  1. I had a betta that did that to his tail every not and then.

Are you sure you think he is a good fish to breed? The thing with pet store bettas are you never know what you are going to get when you breed them.  They are not pure they are more like mutts.  So if you must breed him just look for a YOUNG healthy female. Make sure you pick a female that looks small not too small but not yet full grown.  I have found some young ones at pet co. They were only barley an inch long and now are close to 3 inches.

If the bettas are too old it is going to be hard to breed them due to lack of s*x drive.  Honestly.

  2. Wow, props go to you for the rescue job. What a great looking fish a little TLC has come up with!

If you want to breed him, find a female veil tail.  The fry will have more striking blue in them than even dad has.

  3. nice fish! i never have seen coloring like that before.

  4. if you want fry with the same colourings as him you would want a female also with the same colourings, however not all the fry will inherit the parents colours as they will receive the recessive traits which are not shown in the adults.

hope you find you perfect female and good luck

    hope this helps
