Question:

Choosing a wakeboard???

by  |  earlier

I am easing into the sport of wake boarding. I have done it once and are a complete beginner. I weigh 175 pounds and Im 5'11.

I have no idea how much "rocker" i need or what length/width would be best for me. Im looking to get a decent board but am not looking to spend over 450.00 clamshells.

Any veteran wake boarders out there that can help?!

Please include links.

Thanks!

  1. get a board with not much rocker like maybe 2.4 or 2.5. a 137 to 140 would be a good length. here are a few options

  2. for your weight and height i would go for a 139 to 144cm board.

the best place to buy your board would be wakeside.com

    or buywake.com

    and for rocker wise

i would go continues rocker not 3 stage

a 3 stage is gonna be hard on your legs and have a tenancy to wonna slip out from under you wen carving.

go continues all the way brah.

below i have links to where to buy your board

and info on how to chosse a rocker and the right height board.

    and width.

    good luck

  3. I would get at least a 142+. The main reason to get the larger board is that it will allow you to use a wider stance which will help your balance and give you more power on landings. I larger board will also help you when landing jumps as the larger boards are a little more forgiving.

In terms of rocker, continuous rocker will be a more consistent and predictable pop and is more of an "out" instead of  "up" pop. A 3 stage board with lots of rocker will give you more "up" than "out" pop, but is not as consistent as a continuous.

a great board would be any Hyperlite Murray board, especially this years:

    Maybe a CWB Faction

In reality, you should go to your local board shop and demo some boards. Tell the shop what you are looking for and have them reccomend some boars to try. Many shops will have a demo program where you can use the cost of demo on a new board.
