Question:

Choosing tennis raquet size?

I want to start playing tennis for recreation, and I went shopping for raquets. I saw one I really liked and it was a size 4 1/4. How big/small is it supposed to be if you're 5'4, small-medium frame??

  1. I'm 5'2 and I have very small hands, so I prefer size 4 (hard to find and not all rackets go in this size), but can play with 4 1/8. So I guess you should be somewhere around 4 1/8 - 4 1/4. Hope it helps.

  2. Check out the link below.  It will help you measure your grip size.  Good luck :)

  3. Choosing a handle/grip size depends on your hand. When you close your hand around the grip of your racket, you should easily be able to put your other index finger in between the tips of your fingers and your wrist, no more of less. Too small usually resu, lts in you wrisitng too much. Too big will make you lose control of the racquet. Try that or ask any attendant at any sports store to help you out.

  4. yes you can try gripping and inserting your other index finger. if it fits you, then buy the racquet. if you feel it is a bit small, try bigger grip size (4 3/8). if you find yourself between two grip size, pick the smaller one and wrap an overgrip.

    hope it helps :)

  5. ok heres the thing the handle really isnt much of importance you can buy the cushions apart and make it fit way more in your hand, the size of the rackets in the frame means different things if its small it will give you more control of the ball since theres not alot of spin that you put into the ball and theres the mdeium size which allow more spin but less control and the big ones which practically just give you way more spin but way much harder to control the ball, i say you start with a small frame racquet so you learn about control and get the feel of the hit on the raquet
