Choosing what to obey and not to obey?

Question

The bible gives you many obligations. But are you free to choose what to obey and not to obey?

Somewhere in the old testament, the bible tells women not to spend time fixing their hair to make them look pretty(if i remember correctly.) I'm sure no christian woman follows that statement.

Jesus tells you when you're divorcing a person, you're letting your spouse committing adultery. But lots of Christians get divorced anyway.

The bible tells women not to speak in churches(New Testament.) However, majority of women talk in churches and there are female priests as well.

So does this mean you can choose what to obey and not what to obey, considering the current culture and environment? Then why can't people have premarital s*x and get drunk and stuffs and still say it is ok? Where is the line drawn at?

well not being religious myself but my parents are evangelical (which i find a little extreme) i would say all churches in their own way are corrupt, no church i have ever been to follows the bible correctly they preach what they choose to preach, the women miss out the bit about women preachers, or dismiss it as times have changed but you know what i also recall somewhere in the bible it also states gods word will not change with the times, to me the bible is a very good book that was used years ago to teach morals and good will. But i know my parents dont have much to do with me as they have said their marrige is more important than their offspring and they live their own lives away from us- christianity gone stupid i think! you can read what you want from the bible,  you can read too much into words, or ignore some chapters either way no one read s it properly! thou shall not judge,,, which of us keeps that one!

That's what is the matter with most churches today, people judge other people to much. We can only send our own soul to heaven or h**l. That's why God said we should search out our own heart with fear and trembling. That doesn't mean for a preacher or so called christians to shove what they are feeling down upon people that are trying to learn about the true way to live for God. I have seen so many people turn away from a church because of the way they are treated. God wanted for Love to be the number one thing that is felt for his children and some are still searching for that because they are lonely and feel that they are forgotten. Any one can take any scripture out of the bible and turn it in a way that will either be for them or against them. When you pray for God to direct your path and show you how to follow his will no one can change your path no matter what is said or done.

Obedience means life, disobedience means death.

The scripture regarding modesty in women is at

2 Tim 2:9 Likewise I desire the women to adorn themselves in well-arranged dress, with modesty and soundness of mind, not with styles of hair braiding and gold or pearls or very expensive garb, 10 but in the way that befits women professing to reverence God, namely, through good works.

The verse regarding divorce?

Mark 10:11 And he said to them: “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her, 12 and if ever a woman, after divorcing her husband, marries another, she commits adultery.”

Women preachers in the congregation?

2 Cor. 14:33 "As in all the congregations of the holy ones, 34 let the women keep silent in the congregations, for it is not permitted for them to speak, but let them be in subjection, even as the Law says. 35 If, then, they want to learn something, let them question their own husbands at home, for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in a congregation."

It means the bible is so out of date it is useless and yet people insist on following its contradictions all the time.

And then everyone screams at the rest of us when we laugh and say - the bible is so out of date its useless.

The funny thing is that the jews still follow its outdated rules.

I personally believe the bible is full of cro*k, sh*t and fairy tales. NOT to be taken literally. Unfortunately most christians do accept the bible as literally and totally truth.

Even if some actions in the bible portray god as jealous and murderous and other stories that break the laws of physics - humans ascending into heaven.....ROTFLMAO that has to be a joke right???
