Choppy imported video?

Ok im using a Canon Powershot A720 IS camera, not videocamera. I took about a 5 1/2 minute long video and on the camera itself it plays back perfect, crystal clear. But then when I go to upload it through my memory card slot in my labtop, it comes out choppy and virtually unusable on whatever program I use. Very frustrating, any help would be appreciated!!!

Are you shooting at the maximum size and frame per second rate? 640x480, (30 fps)?

Check you camera settings. It is possible you captured it at the lowest rate,160 x 120 (15 fps)

If all is well on those settings, try another movie player, or see if there is an updated codec you can download.

It could be that your current player doesn't handle the codec your camera uses for compression very well.
