Chosen Character favourite for Picnic Package - New For 2012 Handicap
Chosen Character has won decent odds for the Picnic Package - New For 2012 Handicap at Pontefract in England on Monday, April 23, 2012. The triumphant horse will be awarded a cash prize of £2,386.
The class-5 event, which is scheduled to start at 16:45 GMT, will test the speed and stamina of all participants to some extent, as they will have to cover an overall distance of 1 mile and 4 yards.
A total of 15 quality runners will be seen in action and their names are as follows: Flying Applause, Chosen Character, Edmaaj, Myboyalfie, First Class Favour, Law To Himself, Opus Maximus, Brockfield, Watts Up Son, Diablo Dancer, Icy Blue, Cheylesmore,
Camerooney, On The Cusp and Valley Tiger.
Initially, 16 runners were scheduled to take part in the race, but Shadowtime has been ruled out of action due to an injury. He is a seasoned runner, as he has participated in 46 races until now, but he did not have good chances of winning, as his
recent form was below par.
It was a difficult call for the bookies to select the favourite for this race, as the competition level is quite high. However, they favoured Chosen Character in the end, as he seems to be in good rhythm compared to the rest of the runners.
Chosen Character has got a lot of experience and his recent form has also been quite impressive. He has participated in 15 races until now, winning a couple of them and finishing runner up once. Moreover, he also secured the third place on four occasions,
which shows the level of his competitiveness.
The four-year-old gelding ended up fifth in his most recent outing, which might discourage the bettors from risking money on him.
The Tom Dascombe’s trainee will be partnered by Richard Kingscote in the race. The veteran jockey has got a decent record at this level and his strike rate is also impressive, which will attract a lot of bets.
It will be hard to rule out the rest of the participants, as they are fully capable of causing an upset in the race at Pontefract today.
