The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 striker has admitted that his side were lucky in the first-half and ruthless in the second period.

The striker mentioned that it was a complete team effort and the players were focussed on the night. He told that Mainz were lucky enough to avoid the hosts’ onslaught especially in the first-half but also applauded his team’s
defence which kept the home side at bay throughout the 90 minutes.
While talking to Bundesliga.de, the striker further added:
“It was a determined team performance and an extremely focused tactical outing. It was important for us to keep a clean sheet and we managed that. There was a little bit of luck involved especially at the start of the first half,
but we still had build upon that.”
On the other hand, the Cameroonian accepted that his manager, Thomas Tuchel, adapted a defensive approach at the start of the game. He mused that this approach did not surprise him at all as Bremen is a difficult place to go on
and score from the word go.
However, he reserved praise for Tuchel who relaxed the players during the half-time break, allowing them to push forward on a regular basis rather sitting back as was the case in the first 45 minutes. Choupo-Moting was introduced
in the second-half and soon doubled his team’s tally in the 48th minute.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cameroon-c2865 international later went on to bag a brace as the O-Fives registered an important win over the River Islanders.
“It always depends on the opponent. Dictating the game is very hard to do in Bremen. Therefore we adjusted our system against Werder, looked for counter-attacking opportunities and used our chances to full effect this time round,"
the 23-year-old concluded.
Mainz will next play Stuttgart at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena on Saturday, April 7, as they continue to fight relegation with six games remaining this season.
