Chris Adcock, Gabrielle White march into Mixed Doubles quarter-finals of 2013 India Open
Mixed Doubles experts Chris Adcock and Gabrielle White of England forged a fruitful chemistry and ensured their presence in the quarter-final round of Yonex Sunrise India Open on April 25, 2013.
They faced a higher ranked Japanese duo Kenichi Hayakawa-Misaki Matsutomo and this hard fought tussle remained in full swing for 45 minutes.
The British duo dominated the opening and the ending segments of showdown with 21-10 and 21-13 margin whereas the opposing pair could prevail in the second set with 21-11 score.
In the opening game, the partnership of Chris Adcock and Gabrielle White looked in prime touch as both shuttlers did not give their rivals even a single chance to proceed on points table.
They showed their intentions immediately in the beginning by claiming many valuable points in a row. This intensive invasion helped them to establish a decent lead which ultimately proved the decisive factor.
Chris Adcock and Gabrielle White did not show any sign of confusion at any stage of game and claimed this vital match point with scoreboard flashing 21-10 total in their favour.
However, things were not that much easy for them in the following game as the Japanese shuttlers turned their plan of straight-set victory into dust.
This time the twosome of Kenichi Hayakawa and Misaki Matsutomo looked at its best. Both partners did not show any sign of bewilderment even after the first set loss and put a great resistance.
They supported each other in all areas of court and managed to finish first half of the set with an upper hand in the score position.
After the mid-game break, Kenichi and Misaki struck hard and brought the contest to right balance with 21-11 margin on the board.
The decider became crucial for both teams as they were desperately in need of this final match point to gain access to the quarter-finals.
Initially, they were standing toe-to-toe in the score position but then the British duo’s magic prevailed and they won the battle with 21-13 total.
With this win, they setup their next clash with Sudket Prapakamol-Saralee Thoungthongkam of Thailand and a win will take them into semi-finals of India Open.
