Chris Adcock determined to win medal in the 2012 Olympic Games – Badminton news
After delivering an impressive performance in the BWF World Championships, England’s Mixed Doubles shuttler Chris Adcock sets higher target to win a medal at the 2012 Olympic Games, which will kick off at Wembley Arena in London, the same venue where the
World Championships took place last month.
Adcock with the partnership of Scotland’s Imogen Bankier surprisingly landed a podium berth and won the silver medal in the Mixed Doubles event in the World Championships.
Now, Adcock wants to remain in the right shape and play top class badminton in the next year’s Olympic Games and follow the footsteps of Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms of England, who won the silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Adcock said, “I remember watching Nathan and Gail in Athens and thinking it would be amazing to be in a similar position one day.”
He is impressed with the performance of the Robertson and Emms and wants to win a medal in the next year’s Olympic Games next year. He also expressed that the couple is working hard to maintain their wonderful form and deliver their best in the Olympic Games.
While talking about the consistency of performance in the upcoming events, Adcock said, “We have a lot to do to maintain that position but Imogen and I have a great rapport and our games complement each other well. Our relationship on the court is very strong.”
In the final match of the World Championships, the World Number 11 Adcock and Bankier failed to dominate Zhao Yunlei and Zhang Nan of China. The Chinese couple is enjoying the top place in the Mixed Doubles world rankings.
However, a satisfied Adcock added, “It was a magnificent feeling to do so well and stepping out on the court for the final was just amazing. Standing on the podium definitely gave us a taste for what it could be like next year and we want to enjoy that feeling
again.”
If Adcock and Bankier manage to maintain their current form, they will be among the main contenders for the title in the Mixed Doubles category in the 2012 Olympic Games. The World Number 18 couple of Robertson and Jenny Wallwork will also be there to win
the title for England.
