Chris Adcock focuses to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games – Badminton news
England’s impressive shuttler Chris Adcock, who with his partner Imogen Bankier won the Mixed Doubles silver medal in the 2011 Badminton World Championships, wants to remain focused to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.
Adcock and Bankier, who are currently World Number 14, have been delivering consistent performance for the last one year and have bright chances to qualify for the London Olympics.
A consistent performance is required from Adcock and Bankier if they want to appear in Olympic Games as there are still three months left in the qualifying period of mega event. They know that anything can happen in this period if they lose their focus.
The London Olympics will also take place at Wembley Indoor Arena in London, where Adcock and Bankier won the silver medal in the last World Championships.
Now they are confident to continue their impressive run in Olympics, which will start in the ending week of July.
In the last edition of World Championships which was the test tournament for London Olympics, Adcock and Bankier proved their mettle as they delivered stunning performance and finished as the finalists of the tournament.
Adcock said, "It was the Olympic test event and everything was treated as if it was the real thing. There's no bigger tournament apart from the Olympics than the world championships so it was a brilliant taste of what's to come and amazing to achieve what we did.”
He also added that the home crowd will have a great impact on their performance in the Olympic Games as it did in the last year’s World Championships.
While talking about his prospects in the London Olympics, Adcock said that he only wants to remain focused to qualify for the event because it is quite challenging.
He said, "But at the moment I'm just focusing on qualifying because it is so hard to get to an Olympics. Obviously we'll have quite a lot of time from May to plan what's going to happen but until then we just have to take each game as it comes."
Adcock and Bankier stand a good chance to qualify for the mega event if they remain consistent in the upcoming tournaments.
