Chris Andersen getting closer to his return for Denver Nuggets
Energetic centre Chris Andersen may return for the Denver Nuggets on Monday 22 November when they go up against the Golden State Warriors at the Oracle Arena in Oakland.
Andersen, who has yet to play this season because of a knee injury, practiced with the team on Sunday 21 November, and he will be listed on a day-to-day status against the Warriors. The Nuggets
are also not ruling out the possibility of sitting him out for one more game to return on Friday 26 November against the Chicago Bulls.
“My knee is doing really well. I'm excited about coming back,” Andersen said. “It's been a long time waiting. I have just been optimistic and realistic at the same time. Coach has been real
patient. I just want to help the guys with rebounding and the transition part of the game. There's always a light at the end of the tunnel and let's just say that light's getting bigger.”
The 32-year-old forward-centre led the Nuggets in blocks last season, and he is expected to provide a huge lift for the Nuggets, especially in rebounding and defence. The Nuggets are still
struggling to find their rhythm this season, but superstar Carmelo Anthony remains optimistic about their campaign this year.
“We're going to get it together. I have faith. It's a long season,” said Anthony, who is averaging 24.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game this season. “The schedule has been tough on us so
far, but it's turning for us. We've got a stretch where we can win some games and break this open a little bit.”
The Nuggets, who currently have a 7-6 record, will likely play on Monday 22 November without starting point guard Chauncey Billups. The veteran point guard sustained fractured nose, chipped
tooth, and sprained wrist in their 107-103 win over the New Jersey Nets on Saturday 20 November.
