Chris Bake’s Team Aqua nudges down to 4th place on Day 2 of Adris RC44 Cup at Rovinj in Croatia
Leader board 2011 RC44 Championship Tour, Great Britain’s Team Aqua, could not perform up to the mark in 2011 Adris RC44 Cup at Rovinj so far and tumbled down to fourth place with 22 points after two days of racing. Team Aqua’s owner, Chris Bake believes
they had a tough second day but it would have been a fruitful end on Day 2 if they had figured out about the wind conditions on time.
The second day of the Adris RC44 Cup began with greetings from Croatian North Western Thermal Mistral, which can usually blow over 25 knots. However, the winds were gusting around 12 knots, which was ideal for a handy sail.
So far in the event, America’s Oracle Racing and Swedish Artemis Racing have been quite convincing and they are currently the top two of overall podium standings with 16 points each. Spain’s Islas Canarias Puerto Calero, skippered by Daniel Calero, hit the
third spot with 17 points. The weather forecast did punch Chris Bake’s Team Aqua but they managed to maintain a convincing sail in the end.
While speaking to media at the conclusion of Day 2, Bake said, “It was a very tough day and we had a tough first race and got a stupid penalty on that one because I put the boat in the wrong place, it took a while to get up to speed and once we got back
in the flow and figured out the wind conditions it was a bit better. A win was a nice way to end the day.”
