Chris Bake’s Team Aqua takes lead at the 2011 Adris RC44 Cup: Day 3 – Sailing news
Hard work finally paid-off for Great Britain’s Team Aqua, leader board at the RC44 Championship Tour, as they grabbed the overall lead of the 2011 Adris RC44 Cup at the end of Day 3, at Rovinj, Croatia. Skipper, Chris Bake’s excellent leadership and impressive
tactics from Cameron Appleton brought the British team on the highway of success again.
Unlike the second day’s weather forecast, the winds on Day 3 were a bit higher. The day began with an early north Adriatic Sea breeze gusting at eight knots around the racing area, but soon the winds built up to 17 knots which made the races more exciting.
Four races commenced on third scheduled day. France’s Aleph Sailing Team hit the top mark first in the opening race followed by Team Aqua on second place. Second race was a bit tougher for Team Aqua, but they managed to make it to the windward mark on port
at fourth place. However, the next two races were an easy sail for them due to favourable winds, and the squad took them to conclude the day on highest podium.
The overall standings of Adris RC44 Cup after four races are given below:
