Chris Benchetler trains young skiers at TGR’s new Fall Line camp on New Year weekend
This past weekend, the professional skier Chris Benchetler took on the responsibility of leading one of Teton Gravity Research’s (TGR) new Fall Line camps in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Offering junior camps for the first time, TGR arranged for young skiers from seventh to 12th grader to improve their park and big-mountain skills by training under professional skiers, who unarguably carry a pretty comprehensive understanding
of the sport.
The first batch of the groms who got to attend the TGR three-day camp on Friday could not have hoped for a better luck as Jackson Hole received around 20 inches of snow from a much-needed snow-storm.
This created a perfect training ground for the young skiers to practice and enhance their powder skills.
Aside from working on their skiing, the kids were treated to an opportunity of editing footage shot in the TGR studios. The intended motivation behind this was to encourage the groms to let go of all inhibitions and push themselves as well as each other
to bring out the best that they currently had.
Benchetler was pretty impressed with TGR’s effort to provide the groms a platform where they could learn and enhance their skills. Talking about the new junior camps to a reporter from the leading sports network ESPN, he said, “The TGR fall Line camp is
a great concept. It really gives the kids an opportunity to push themselves, each other, and learn some of the ins and outs it takes to build a video segment. Another very cool part about the camp was the amount of kids it brought from all over the country
... I'm excited to see the progression from this year to next.”
The new Fall Line camps arranged by TGR are not only designed for young skiers, but also young snowboarders who are interested in upping their park and big-mountain skills. The junior camps will remain active throughout the season.
Fall Line camps are just one of the many contributions of Teton Gravity Research in skiing and snowboarding. The Teton Village-based extreme sport production company have been producing snowboarding, skiing and surfing films for more than a decade now, along
with arranging educational camps and workshops for skiers and snowboarders all over America.
