Chris Bosh back to practice: Doing light work on the court – NBA Update
Before the Eastern Conference Finals tip off between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics at the American Airlines Arena on Monday, the men from the South Beach have received some encouraging news regarding their star power forward
Chris Bosh.
On Sunday afternoon, Miami`s injured forward was seen performing on-court drills with assistant coach, Keith Askins which is a good sign for the team as he has been out for around two weeks.
Even though the Heat do not expect Bosh to be back for the series opener against the Boston Celtics, however the progress he has made during a layoff of nearly one and a half week is a definite sign of recovery.
This Miami team who started the post season very dominantly have faced their problems without Bosh among the starters and will be hoping that he is able to make a return soon.
On the other hand, Bosh highlighted one thing with his comments that is his team will have to extend their season in order for him to make a successful return.
He injured his lower abdomen while driving to the basket in Game 1 of Miami`s series against Indiana Pacers in the previous round and has not been able to get any kind of action with the team ever since.
In his absence this Miami team looked uninspiring on the court as they lost the next two games of the series against the Pacers. However the following three games saw the star duo of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade erupt on the scoring
end.
During these three games, James put up astounding numbers by averaging 32.7 points. On the other hand, Wade who had the worst playoff performance of his career in Game 3 by managing only 5 points really got hot. He even bettered
James`s performances by averaging 33 points, silencing his critics along the way.
Those performances however came against an inexperienced Indiana side. Come the Conference Finals, the Heat will be up against the veteran Celtics, who will be more than rearing to exploit their already under sized opponents on
the paint. To counter that, LeBron and Wade will have to keep rolling and that is what Erik Spoelstra is hoping for;
"What happened the last three games, now that has to be the norm," Spoelstra said "What I told them (Saturday) as a team is we have to go to the next level. That won't be enough for our ultimate goal."
For Spoelstra, Bosh’s comeback is not even on the mind. All he is concentrating right now is how to tackle the Celtics with whatever resources he has got;
"I'm not even preparing for that right now," Spoelstra said "I'm preparing for who we have in the gym. So our focus is (Monday). And that's all I can concentrate on. We have enough to win (Monday). That's all that any of our guys
should be focused on.”
