Chris Bosh needs to add more energy to his game – NBA Report
One of the three key players of the Miami Heat, Chris Bosh came face to face with his biggest critic Skip Bayless on September 14, as a guest in a sports program. Having an ideal opportunity to retort to all the criticism, Bosh
seemed rather prosaic.
Bayless however is famous for his fearless opinions and never hesitates to slate any player. This time it was Bosh’s turn to face the music. Bayless criticized Bosh over his current style of play and didn’t even spare his nickname
“Bosh Spice”.
Bosh however was not concerned and didn’t budge even after being called soft. Perhaps he knew he was, especially late in the post season.
Bosh, who had maintained a scoring average of 22 plus points in his last five seasons, failed to regain his magic with the Heat and tallied just 18.7 points, clutched 8.3 rebounds and dished out 1.9 assists per game.
The stigma of being soft has been attached with Bosh since the very beginning of his professional career. Bosh is branded soft because over the years he has failed to produce the energy in his game that most top players at his
position are associated with.
Prior to joining forces with Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, Bosh was a part of the Toronto Raptors. In his last season with the franchise, he punctuated 24.0 points, grabbed 10.8 rebounds and provided 2.4 assists per game. After
his collaboration with the duo, it was expected that Bosh will refine further, but that didn’t happen.
In his first season with the Heat, Bosh made decent contributions, but didn’t meet the expectations that followers were anticipating from him. Because, his first season numbers were even below than his career average which is 20.0
points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.1assists per game.
It was not a too bad performance especially as it came in the presence of the other two players James and Wade, who are also offensively very aggressive. This left little room for Bosh to show his true sparks.
Bosh was not criticized for his below par numbers, infect he was condemned more for his playing style. The 27 year old still have a long way to go and in order to stay popular and excel in his field, Bosh needs to fix the problem
as soon as possible, otherwise it will cost him.
The major problem with the 6 ft. 11 is that he is predictable with his mid-range assault that defers him from doing the hard work down the stretch. In addition to that Bosh also fails to show his deafening presence on the defensive
end to restrict the opponents.
Good and bad games come for every player, but it’s hard to get rid of tags if they get attached with any sportsmen. Bosh didn’t get this tag after shifting to Miami, it was always with him right from the beginning when he was playing
for the Raptors and at the moment he hadn’t done much about it.
Unless he finds a way to overcome his problem, Bosh will keep receiving the criticism, no matter what his statistics table shows. This off season is a golden opportunity for the talented player to change his playing style and let
his game do the talking next season rather than his words.
