Chris Bosh regains form at the right time for the Miami Heat – NBA Update
When Chris Bosh went down after a layup in game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semi Finals against the Indiana Pacers, many people said that the Miami Heat’s chances of progressing have been critically hurt.
It did not help that the Heat lost the next two games against the Pacers as Indiana capitalized on the absence of a big man in the Heat line up. However, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade got together to demonstrate
some of the best games of their career and took the series 4-2. Miami extended their season but Bosh was not healthy enough to make a return. So the Heat went into the series against the Boston Celtics and split the first 4 games, with no team losing at home.
It was then that coach Erik Spoelstra played Chris Bosh in game 5, but did not start him. Bosh played his first game after an absence of 3 weeks and was limited to 14 minutes. Bosh was again played off the bench
by the coach in game 6 and Miami managed to win that one to force a deciding game 7. And it was game 7 in which Chris Bosh finally returned to the form that we know him for. Bosh had 19 points including a 3 of 4 shooting performance from the distance. Along
with James and Wade, the big three of Miami was healthy and in rhythm, which meant the Celtics had no chance.
Bosh was a top star in Toronto with the Raptors and was brought to Miami in 2010 when James and Wade were signed. Together, these three players laid the foundations of a new era in Miami basketball, one that
would go down in history. However, Bosh had to make many changes in order to adapt to the new team roster and game plan, and many people criticized him for his performance and dropping numbers.
His importance was realized when he went down with the abdominal injury, and the Heat were left exposed without any presence in the centre. Bosh not only gives the Heat presence in the interior, but also opens
up the defense and can take the jumper as well, which he displayed in game 7.
"He showed up big. It's a testament not only to his talent but to his character. He kept working his way back and integrate him slowly and off the bench. And there was no issues at all -- not even the closest
thing to it. He worked himself back into a rhythm,” said Miami coach Erik Spoelstra.
Miami now faces the charging Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals. They have one of the most balanced teams in the NBA at the moment. Bosh will need to be at the top of his game to compete against the Thunder
big men in Serge Ibaka and Kendrick Perkins.
