Chris Bosh says he is recovering from abdominal strain at a very fast pace – NBA Update
After sitting out the last five games for the Miami Heat, Chris Bosh in a recent interview has claimed that his recovery process is progressing at a very fast rate.
“I’m just hoping that everyone can keep doing what they’re doing and extend the season,” Bosh said as reported by ESPN. “I do have a chance to play again. That’s the light at the end of the tunnel for me. That keeps me going every
day….
“I’ve come a far way in a week,” He added. “I was kind of nervous initially but it wasn’t the worst news I could have gotten. I just have to keep believing and stay mentally strong. I think I’m healing at a very fast rate right
now.”
These comments came before the Heat wrapped up their series against the Indiana Pacers to advance into the Conference Finals. They now await the winner for the other semi final series between the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia
76ers which is going to be decided in seven games.
However this is great news for the Miami unit who would have learned much about themselves in the past few days. After winning Game one of their series against Indiana, they lost the next two games with Bosh absent from the line
up due to abdominal strain.
Heat missed his rebounding credentials and his presence down low in the post and even if he did not score much, he made crucial plays which worked in Miami`s favour. After the Miami side went down 1-2 in the series, they had to
rely on their other stars like LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.
Both of these players stepped their game in a major way, LeBron responded with 40 points, 18 rebounds and 9 assist performance to win Game 4. He put up 30 points in the next one and had 28 points in the Game 6 victory. Dwyane Wade
finally got it going after a dismal start to the series. He put up 30 points to silence all his critics, put up 28 in the following game and erupted for 41 points in the series clinching game 6.
However despite the excellence from the duo, Miami lacked that presence on the court which could have gotten them out of trouble a lot early in the series. Many who considered Bosh to be not a very key figure of this Heat team
would have gotten their answer as to how instrumental, his presence is on the court.
Bosh was averaging 18 points per game during the regular season and put up an average of 14.7 points in the playoffs before going out injured. However his presence was the key to stopping the likes of Amare` Stoudemire and Tyson
Chandler in the first round series against the New York Knicks.
Heat faced the size disadvantage in their series against the Pacers and will have their work cut out for them against either of the two teams out of Boston or Philadelphia in the conference finals. So if the Heat are to having
any kind of chance of making a return trip to the NBA Finals, they would certainly want Bosh to be on the court.
