The 28 year old All-star power forward is willing to fill in at the centre position for NBA’s defending champions....
When Chris Bosh came to Miami Heat two seasons ago, he didn't expect to fill in at the centre position – a role he had constantly played in his time with the Toronto Raptors. However after constantly being pushed by the coaching
staff and seeing his teammate LeBron James adjust well to deeper positions on the court, Bosh believes that is time to finally give in.
"It's becoming natural to me," Bosh said. "I have a very unique opportunity to do something very special for myself and my team. I think all the time that you have to evolve and get better. This is me evolving as a player."
After joining Dwyane Wade at the South Beach two seasons ago, both James and Bosh had been reluctant to play in the post. But as time went on, they have gotten used to filling in these roles. The results have been very prominent
as Miami went on to lift the NBA Championship last season.
Bosh added that he is willing to play in any position his team needs him to fill in at and if playing centre makes the team function better, than he is more than happy to adjust his game.
“Next thing I know we win a championship. It's like, 'Well. I've done myself a great service. And I'm gonna be at the center.' There's really no debating that. I just accept it and see how I can get better at it."
The change of approach is majorly a result of James doing so well at the power forward position. LeBron owned that role in the playoffs last season and there doesn't seem to be a way to stop him.
Now with Bosh also willing to accept the centre role, Miami can easily counter the newer combinations that have arisen in the off season and at the same time continue on with their small brand of basketball, which his based on
raw speed, skill and athleticism. In order to ensure, and even strengthen, that system, Heat have gone about their business very smartly this summer, adding Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis.
