Chris Bran, Arthur Psaltis and Jon Ross win respective division of 2012 Audi Winter Series
After a superb sailing display in the 2012 Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) Audi Winter Series, Chris Bran’s Barnnew and the team of Arthur Psaltis and Jon Ross on their Into The Mystic were able to claim the top spot of Division B and Division C
respectively.
The spectators present at the racing area witnessed some of the best sailing competitions on the CYCA waters where both Divisions sailed to the best of their skills. The Principal Race Officer Denis Thompson was happy with a successful finish to the regatta.
The weather conditions over the Audi Winter Series regatta were not troubling and helped the sailors complete the scheduled races on time. The breeze fluctuated in the middle of the regatta but it was not harsh for the sailing proceedings.
Bran of Division B had a slow start with a third and fourth finish but a second podium place in the third race took him up in the standings. Another second finish in the fifth race was enough for him to claim the division title with 16 points.
On the other hand, Arthur Psaltis and Jon Ross were outstanding on the race course as they grabbed the regatta lead from the start with the help of three bullets in the first three races. Another bullet after a third finish in the fourth race ensured their
victory over the Division C fleet with seven points.
Speaking to the local media, Psaltis said, “I had another two minutes added last time – I think the handicapper will be very angry this week and add some more!”
