Cricketer turned referee of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 at Gabba, Brisbane.
The former cricket made his debut as an ICC match referee in 2004, in an ODI match between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ranjan-Senerath-Madugalle-c83994 of Sri Lanka, he is the first Englishman to have served as a match referee in 200 ODIs.
Speaking to media reporters after achieving the accolade, Chris Broad expressed delight over people’s love for one day cricket.
"Obviously, I have an extra reason to be happy today. But at the same time, it is also an indication of the number of ODIs that have been played since I started my career eight years ago,” said Broad reflecting on his achievement.
Since making his debut as a match referee in 2004, 1,180 One Day Internationals have been played. He also officiated in 51 Test matches and 41 T20 Internationals. Madugalle is also leading the Test and T20 chart with 132 and 46 matches in the other two formats
respectively.
The 54-year-old left-handed batsman played 25 Tests for England between 1984 and 1989, compiling a tally of 1661 runs at an average of 37.86, including six centuries and an equal number of half centuries. In the 34 One day Internationals Broad played for
England between January 1987 and May 1988, he scored 1,361 at an average of 40.02.
He also played 340 first class matches for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gloucestershire-c785, and Orange Free State. Broad scored 21892 runs at 38.07. In first class cricket he has scored 50 centuries and 105 half centuries.
Broad thanked his family members, fellow match officials and colleagues at the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) for helping him achieve the milestone.
